This Overlooked Mistake Could be Stopping You From Landing Your Next Job.

when to update your resume

Do you know what month it is? Are you ready?!

September is International Update your Resume Month!

I’m going to be writing every day this month to give you actionable advice, as a recruiter and resume writer, that will help you get your next job!

This series is going to be jam packed with tips and secrets. You aren’t going to want to miss out!

Why when you update your resume will make or break your job search

To get things started in the right direction, I want to lay down the foundation that you need to know before taking my advice.

Your resume will literally make or break your job search!

I know that some people will roll their eyes and say it’s just a piece of paper.

But what they fail to understand is just how many people have that piece of paper.

Your resume is going up against hundreds or thousands of others for each and every job you apply for.

If others are taking the time to perfect their resume and create something that stands out, yours will fall to the background.

The one simple but extremely important tip to update your resume

As we start the month off, there really is one tip that is truly more important than everything else.

It’s simple. Are you ready?

Update and prepare your resume before you actually need it.

Yup.

Look. If you find a job that you want and you wait a few days to get that resume updated, you will absolutely miss out on it.

In demand jobs are only going to stay posted for a short period of time. That could be as short as one day or a few hours.

Do not wait.

Someone less qualified than you, that applied quicker, will land that job.

Your resume is a marketing tool

Your resume is your first impression with a company. Don’t waste it.

Keep your resume update and ready to use at a moment’s notice.

Keep coming back all month long for great tips to help you hit the ground running!

If you need help, ask for it. Getting help with your resume is an investment in yourself. It will pay off immensely by the time you get your first job offer!
